Whole hemp seeds are the entire seeds of the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa), harvested and cleaned, with the outer shell intact with low THC (<0,3%) in accordance with European legislation. Unlike shelled hemp seeds (hemp hearts), whole hemp seeds include the fibrous outer hull, which adds extra fiber but has a slightly harder texture.

Whole hemp seeds are commonly used in the food industry in the shelled form, where they are frequently used in smoothies, shakes, and energy bars.

Besides hemp seeds being suitable for the food industry in its shelled form, it’s also a popular product for the animal feed industry. Due to its nutritious values, it is commonly used in animal feed in combination with other nutritional ingredients, so it can provide as a protein source for animals as well.
