This highly valuated mushroom (lat. Inonotus Obliquus) is parasitic mainly on birch and less often on other deciduous trees in northern Europe, Russia and further in the colder areas of Asia and North America. Chaga is a fungus in the Hymenochaetaceae family, usually seen in the form of burnt charcoal.

The first mention of Chaga treatment was stated in the northern regions of China. Furthermore, usage of drinking Chaga was spread to the west part, Siberia and Ural region, where people drink Chaga daily as a tea. Researches showed that occurrence of cancer and stomach diseases were very low, almost absent in these areas and people who drink Chaga daily often lived up to a 100 years.
